Costume Rentals

Rental Policies
Costume rentals are basically for a 24 hour period.  (In most cases, you may pick up your costume the day before you use it and then return it the day after use).
Large productions that involve numerous costumes for an extended rental period have special rates.  Contact our rental department for further details.

Security Deposit
We require a valid driver’s license and a major credit card for security on all costume rentals.  You are responsible to return all items rented on due date in good condition.  Any damages to costumes or lost articles will be assessed at time of return and a replacement or repair fee will then be paid.

Theme Weddings

Theme weddings have become one of the most unique ceremonies of the present time.  From the decorations menu, and the attire for the wedding party and guests attending, a theme wedding is an event everyone will talk about and remember for years to come.

Ideas for Themed Weddings

Fantasy
Goth
Halloween
Hawaiian
Medieval
Mexican
Oriental
Victorian
Western

We’ve enhanced a few of these ideas with some creative suggestions for you to consider.

Medieval
To get a better idea of this time period, we would suggest you use a film as reference.  Camelot, First Night, Robin Hood, Excalibur are films that would help you with dress codes, menu, music and décor.

Costume Suggestions Bride
There are many gowns designs that would be in keeping with this time period.  The full length “A” line or empire waist line gown with a train would be work beautifully for this period.  The sleeves are quite often long and the gown is usually trimmed with a rich ornate fabric trim.    The brides of this time period wore their hair down with a simple “wreath” headpiece made from fabric or flowers.  In some cases, the bride and her brides maids would hand pick the flowers in the morning and share in creating their headpieces together.  A simple crown or one that is inlaid with jewels would also be quite fitting.  It was also traditional for the bride to carry a white bible instead of flowers.

Brides Maids
The bride’s maids gowns can be a simpler version of the bride, you can choose to have the maid of Honor in a slightly different colour from the maids with all of them wearing some kind of wreath headpiece.  In some cases the bride’s maids would hold the bride’s train as she walks down the aisle therefore no bouquets would be necessary.

Groom
The groom could wear a knee length tunic with slim fitting pants or opt for the chain mail pants and shirt with a collar.  A full cape would finish off the costume nicely.  His head piece could be a crown.

Groomsmen
The Groomsmen can be dressed similar to the groom.  They could consider carrying a shield and or a sword.  If swords are used, you may consider having them create an archway that the bride and groom can walk under at the beginning of the reception.

Flower Girl
The flower girl can be dressed in the same style as the bride’s maids and her headpiece can be a wreath or a cone hat with a veil attached to the top.  You could have her spread rose petals down the aisle.

Ring Bearer
The ring bearer could be dressed the same as the grooms men or you could dress him as a page (tunic, tights or form fitting pants with a floppy oversized French tam with a plume).

Invitations
The invitations could look like a medieval scroll.  Roll a piece of parchment paper into a tube shape and seal it with a wax seal that has both your initials on it, then tie a velvet or satin ribbon on it.  You may also use a calligraphy font from your computer if you are making your own invitations.  Mention to your guests on the attire you are planning on wearing and mention that it would be appreciated very much if they would participate.  Get in touch with your local costume shops for information about rental fees and availability of costumes for your function.  Pass this information along to your guests.  Make it as easy as possible for your guests to participate.

Decorations
Ceremony
The aisle way could be decorated with bamboo torches or rod iron candleholders.  You could use fresh or silk flower garlands to line the pews. Hire a bagpiper to head the procession.  Rent a horse and carriage and decorate the horses with flowers.  If the groomsmen are using swords, you could have them create and arch with their swords for the bride and bride’s maids to walk through.

Reception
Create a back drop behind the head table with a castle painted on it.  This could be an event that could involve the entire wedding party, have a “paint the castle” night!
Create some over sized banners with the family crests or the crests of the round table for the walls of the reception hall.

You could use the green garland you can find out in stores at Christmas time.  (It’s great if you can get it on sale after the season).  Use the green corded mini Christmas lights entwined in the garland and cover lightly with soft white tulle.  Gather the garland up in swoops and complete the look with a soft fabric bow or clusters of silk flowers.

Rent a couple of suits of armor and place them at each end of the head table.
If you are handy with carpentry, you could have a couple of thrones constructed for the bride and groom to use at the head table.  Paint them gold and upholstery the seat and back with a rich velvet or brocade.  You could also cheat with this concept and create a slip cover from velvet or brocade to cover a conventional chair.
Decorate the walls with shields, swords or “horns of plenty” stuffed with fruit (you could use plastic fruit).
Pewter or metallic goblets for the head table are a nice accent. Rent a couple of stuffed deer heads for the walls.
Spray paint the long plastic stadium horns gold and mount them on the walls or use them as part of the table decorations.  You could cut a small slit in the mouth portion of the horn and use to number the tables.

Favours
Silver napkin rings.
Silver or pewter goblets (you could have “bride’s maid” or “groomsmen” with the date engraved on these for your attendants). Rosemary sprigs dipped in gold paint and tied with a ribbon. Velvet mini sacks filled with chocolate foil wrapped coins.

Food
You could serve the food on silver or pewter plates.  If you don’t have enough, cover plates with foil.  You could also use flat breads for the plate and serve big platters of finger foods (no cutlery).  Some popular finger foods would include chicken wings, large strips of beef, pork, baby carrots with the stems still on, large stuffed mushroom caps, potato wedges, filled potato skins, cheeses and fresh fruit, pickles,  raw veggie platter, shrimps on a skewer and fresh baguettes.  Just make sure there’s lots of food for your feast. If you opt not to have a sit down dinner, a buffet is perfect for a medieval themed wedding.
A cake shaped like a castle would be a lovely edition to the evening.
